Late last week, we officially submitted all 1134 SaveBalyang petition signatories, all petition comments and a PowerPoint presentation to City of Greater Geelong (COGG) Council for review and consideration.

At Tuesday's (27th May) COGG Council meeting, we presented our final case with reasons to save the Balyang Par 3 Golf Course and arguments to oppose the proposed driving range development.  Councillors also received the Submission Review Panel report, siting recommendations for the future of Balyang Par 3 Golf Course based on feedback gathered from community consultation with COGG councils' Have Your Say campaign that concluded in August 2024.

On Wednesday evening 28th May, we received an update from COGG confirming that councillors had unanimously voted to lease the land at 19 – 33 Marnock Road Newtown, which is the Balyang Par 3 Golf Course. Leasing proposals will need to include options for a minimum of a 9 hole short course and other golf activities. 

We consider this as a win for those who have joined the fight to save Balyang Par 3 Golf Course. We are truly grateful to everyone who has supported and contributed to our cause.

For now, we will keep the petition running to provide progress updates as they are announced.
