The University of Delhi plans to replace the sole truly extensive and integrated pre-service teacher education course B.El.Ed. with the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP).

B.El.Ed. is the first and only four-year professional degree programme that prepares teachers for elementary classes. B.El.Ed as a comprehensive teacher education programme, challenges a narrow minded vision of grooming and spawning regimented teachers/citizens for a preferred future instead of nurturing autonomous individuals preparing for the future.

B.El.Ed. builds specialists in Elementary Education, that one essential foundational stone in education which has been sidelined and disrespected for decades now. Replacing it with a narrowed and disintegrated course like ITEP is one step further in this intended degradation of Teacher Quality as well as Education in our country. 

Saving B.El.Ed. is saving the strong foundational base of millions of students whom B.El.Ed. graduates will continue to teach.
