SAVE AYLESBURY TRING ROAD ALLOTMENTS

SAVE AYLESBURY TRING ROAD ALLOTMENTS
The Issue
Tring Road Allotments are a thriving, peaceful multi-cultural community of about 100 gardeners in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire that has existed for over 100 years.
We are considered by many to be one of the best allotments in Aylesbury ,not because we have particularly good soil or grow better dahlias . We are special because we care about so much more than just our vegetables. We care for and look out for one another.
For many their Allotment is their reason to get out of bed each day and a vital LIFELINE ,
Some of these friendships were forged here over 40 years ago and some are very recent.
Some have suffered bereavements and have healed their pain through these allotment friendships. For others it is the only regular daily social contact they have in their lives. Some care full time for elderly spouses with dementia,or family members , some are going through or recovering from illnesses themselves . Through all our struggles our familiar allotment family is there for us and have, in however small a way, been there on our journeys.
However , On July 27th 2023 , 18 Aylesbury Town Councillors voted “YES” to evicting 84 allotment holders , many of whom are ageing , elderly or vulnerable.
The Aylesbury Town Council want to re-claim our allotment site to extend the existing cemetery, without any consultation with the public.
Dissolving our allotments will destroy much more than our gardens. It will destroy LIVES . Many will lose SO much more than just the earth they toil.
Please sign this petition and ask Aylesbury Town Council to reverse any decision to use the allotment land in any way for the extension of the cemetery.
