Thanks so much for adding your voice to the Save Australian Stories campaign. Over 10,000 people have now signed the petition, calling on the Albanese government to force giant streaming companies to invest back into Australian storytelling.

We need your help to get to 20,000 signatures. Please share the petition on your social media platforms and with your networks using the hashtags #SaveAustralianStories #MakeItAustralian.

The success of the petition so far reflects the big groundswell of concern for the future of Australian stories, and for saving thousands of jobs in the Australian screen industry.

But our petition is just the beginning. It’s vital that we use this public support to hold the Albanese government to account.

This month, I took your concerns to federal parliament, standing up in Question Time to ask when the government will fulfil its promises – made in 2019, 2022 and 2025 – to introduce local content quotas for streaming companies.

The response from Communications Minister Anika Wells. “We’ll get back to you.”

Australians deserve better. That’s why we’re not slowing down. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be ramping up our campaign even further – so watch this space.

We’d love your help to ramp up the campaign. Please write to your federal MP with your concerns about losing Australian stories and Australian screen jobs. Find more resources to contact your MP on the Make It Australian website here.

Every signature counts. Every email counts. Together we can Save Australian Stories.
