🛹🛼Great News for Ilchester’s Skate Park! 💪🥳
I am so pleased to update you all on such a positive outcome for Ilchester following the skate park meeting earlier this week…
After recent discussions between the Ilchester Town Trust and the Parish Council, it has been agreed that the Parish Council will take back responsibility for the insurance and maintenance of the skate park, just as they had done previously. This means the skate park will remain open for the next five years.
The closure was due to the Town Trust, being a charitable organisation, not being eligible to arrange the skate park’s insurance — since this must be handled by a government body. The Parish Council, a governing body, has now kindly taken back responsibility for the insurance and maintenance, allowing the park to remain open safely and within regulations.
The skate park requires a small amount of work to get it up to health and safety standards. The Parish Council have already begun making enquiries on the remedial maintenance and the installation of new safety notice boards, with the aim of reopening the park as soon as possible.
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who signed and shared this petition, your support truly made a difference. Without those 230 signatures, this discussion might never have happened. Because of you, I was able to attend the meeting and represent the voices of an entire community, not just one person.
And a massive thank you to both the Ilchester Town Trust and Parish Council for working together to find a practical and positive solution that keeps this important space available for young people in our village! 🛼🛹🩶
