Freerunners uit Amsterdam en ver daarbuiten staan op het punt om de bekendste spot uit de parkourgeschiedenis van de stad te verliezen. Sinds de opkomst van parkour en freerunning is de 'Amstel spot' de plek waar lokale en internationale freeruntop trainden en daarmee de sport in Nederland bekend maakten.

Wij vragen de projectontwikkelaar om de fietsingang van het oude HvA gebouw aan de Weesperzijde 190 te bewaren in de huidige staat, ook in het nieuwe ontwerp van het gebouw. Tegelijkertijd vragen we de Gemeente Amsterdam om de plek een monumentale status te geven voor de onmiskenbare urban sport functie die deze meer dan een decennium heeft gehad. 

Hiervoor is de bescherming van een minimaal oppervlak aan de achterkant van het gebouw nodig. We vragen om de eerste nieuwe ontwerpen bij de fietsingang terug te trekken en in dialoog met de freerun community de trainbare spot in stand te houden. De nieuwe functie van het gebouw zal daarmee geen last ondervinden.

Freerunners in Amsterdam and abroad stand to lose it's well-known and beloved historic training spot in the city. From the beginning days of parkour and freerunning in Holland 'Amstel spot' became the place where top athletes from Amsterdam and the whole world trained and popularized the sport.

We ask the project developer to save the old bike entrance of the former HvA building on Weesperzijde 190 in it's current condition, also in the new design of the building. At the same time, we ask the Municipality of Amsterdam to award this spot a monumental status for the unrivaled sports function it served for over a decade.

What is needed is the protection of a minimal area at the backside of the building. We ask to withdraw the first new designs of the bike entrance and to preserve a trainable spot, in dialogue with the freerun community. This will not hinder the new function of the building.
