What's new:

• 5/25: We have over 1,800 supporters! We need continued momentum and visibility. Share with a friend to help the cause.
• 5/22: After trying for weeks, we finally got a short meeting with the City Manager and Deputy City Manager. The City has been continuing to develop plans for Ahern Field as artificial turf, without any community input. All of our specific questions remain unanswered, with the City continuing to offer only broad, general responses.
• 5/19: the School Committee passed the resolution directing the City Manager to include the effects of turf on student health and school HVAC costs in his report about Ahern Field.
• 5/13: DPW presented updated plans for Ahern Field to the Public Planting Committee. No one from the East Cambridge community was invited, and we only learned about it afterwards from Green Cambridge. They added a few new trees but the field is still planned to be plastic turf.
• We are working on next steps, stay tuned!

The City Manager's report explaining the decision to install artificial turf is expected to come out on June 1st (UPDATE: now postponed to June 8th).

In the meantime, please act this week:

• This week, talk to ONE neighbor/colleague/friend, tell them why you care about Ahern field, and encourage them to sign our petition (be careful they sign the correct one, there is a counterpetition that may pop up after you sign)...
• Ask them to share it with one or two people!
• Ask them to send an email to the citymanager@cambridgema.gov and citycouncil@cambridgema.gov, Cc: cityclerk@cambridgema.gov, and Bcc: saveahernfield@gmail.com (to help us keep track).
  If you have kids who play with Cambridge Youth Soccer and prefer grass fields, please mention that in this email.
• Follow us on Facebook. A quick follow helps, and likes or comments make a big difference to boost visibility.
