Hey everyone,
Here's a quick update on Adobe Animate:
After the February 2 announcement about discontinuing sales and support timelines, the creator community (including petitions, Reddit threads, forums, and social outrage) pushed back hard. Adobe listened and updated their official FAQ/help pages (https://www.reddit.com/r/adobeanimate/comments/1qv5yju/updates_on_the_status_of_adobe_animate/):
- Animate is now in maintenance mode indefinitely—no plans to discontinue or remove access.
- The app remains available for both existing and new users (can still be purchased/downloaded via Creative Cloud).
- It will get ongoing security/bug fixes, but no new features are planned.
- This is a change from the original email's wording—Adobe explicitly says: "No, what we initially shared has changed. Adobe Animate is in maintenance mode, and we have no plans to discontinue or remove access."
(See Adobe's updated pages: helpx.adobe.com/animate/kb/end-of-life.html and maintenance mode FAQs.)
This is a huge step forward—continued access means workflows aren't immediately disrupted, and your voices helped make that happen! Massive thank you to everyone who signed, shared, tagged @Adobe, or posted in groups. Momentum from petitions like this one really matters.
But the fight isn't over—Animate is frozen (no evolution, no new tools), and we still need Adobe to:
- Commit to even stronger long-term guarantees.
- Provide better free migration/export tools for FLA/XFL files.
- Engage the community on future 2D animation support.
Keep the pressure on: Tag @Adobe with #SaveAdobeAnimate, share your stories on social media, and help us grow signatures. If we hit bigger milestones, we can draft a formal letter to leadership asking for more.
Thank you for signing/sharing—momentum matters! Keep tagging to Adobe with #SaveAdobeAnimate, share in groups, and let's push for more. If signatures keep growing, we can send a letter to leadership.
Way to go, team—we turned backlash into real change!

P.S. If you love fighting to protect animation tools and studios like I do, check out my other active petition to reopen Blue Sky Studios—one of the popular animation studios of the Ice Age films, Rio, The Peanuts Movie, Nimona, and more (which the animation studio was shut down by Disney in 2021, which Disney buy Blue Sky as part of their 2019 20th Century Fox acquisition). With Ice Age: Boiling Point coming in February 2027, now's the time to revive that legacy and jobs for animators!

Thanks again—your support means everything. Let's keep the momentum going across the animation community! 🚀 #SaveAdobeAnimate #BringBackBlueSky
