To our beloved community,

  • Our Appeal Hearing

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for all of your emails, public comments, meetings, phone calls, late-night cram sessions, research, and sleuthing. Our public comments were chock-full of research documents, case files, and hard evidence as to why this Carlton Way development project is noncompliant, abusive, and outright illegal.  However, as we expected, our City Planning and Land Use Management Committee (PLUM) voted unanimously with the developer Leoor Maciborski of ROM Investments and his shady consultant, Gary Benjamin of Alchemy Planning and Land Use.

  • This isn't over.
  • Tomorrow, this case goes before the entire city council. Please, everyone, send in your objections. We know so many of you have been so selfless and generous with your time.  If you wouldn't mind sending one more email for us to the City Council using this TEMPLATE, we'd be forever grateful (we already are, but now we owe you Shakey's Pizza or something better). The Template has all of the email addresses to send your comment to at the top of the page.
  • We have a meeting with the George Abrahams Foundation to discuss the next steps for litigation.
  • Please let us know if you have any questions
  • As soon as we have any more updates, we will send them your way. We won't SPAM you, we promise.
  • Together we can win this
  • Thank you listWe want to thank the LA Tenants Union, who showed up in full force, wearing red, and about ten of them made passionate and articulate public comments. We want to thank Kim Cooper from Esotouric for being a wonderful supporter and amazing resource. Jen and Carol from the George Abrahams Foundation for being invaluable resources in helping us craft many of our appeal documents, as well as their own.  We want to thank Colter Carlisle and Doug Haines from the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council, who have had our backs since day one and have helped us in so many different ways. Last but not least, we'd like to thank Frances Offenhauser from Heritage Properties who may have uncovered a smoking gun with her discovery that approx. 45,000 square feet of this proposed development will be used for unassigned co-working space, which means there is even less room in this massive development for low-income housing and this makes the project disqualified from all the waivers and off-menu items they are receiving. The more the onion of this project is peeled back, the more bizarre and out of line it truly is.
  • Together we can win this.

Sincerely,
Justin & Noemi
