SAVE 504! Urge Attorney General Liz Murill to withdraw LA from "Texas v. Becerra"

The Issue

As a mother of two children in the Louisiana public school system, this issue hits home. My children, who receive 504 accommodations, are among thousands of others in our state who may be adversely impacted if the case of "Texas v. Becerra" succeeds.

"Texas v. Becerra" is a lawsuit currently petitioning federal courts to revoke the rights granted under section 504 in Louisiana and 16 other states. These rights ensure that children who have disabilities receive essential accommodations, allowing them to flourish educationally. For my family and many others, these accommodations are the difference between achieving success in the educational system or struggling needlessly.

Statistics show that approximately 14 percent of all school children receive some form of a learning accommodation under section 504. That means thousands upon thousands of children in our state alone may be affected. In addition, this attack on our children's educational rights is not just a Louisiana issue. If this case succeeds, it will affect 17 states in total.

We implore Attorney General Liz Murill to withdraw Louisiana from the case of "Texas v. Becerra," standing instead on the side of our children and their educational success. Don't deprive them and countless others of their chance to succeed. We acknowledge the pressures of such a decision, but to turn our backs on our children’s educational rights would be contrary to everything our justice system represents.

Join us in this fight and let Attorney General Liz Murill know that we stand for the prosperity of our children's education. More than ever, we must raise our voices against this unfair attack on our children. Please, sign this petition today.
