We want the Savannah College of Art and Design to require Covid-19 vaccinations in the Fall 2021 quarter and beyond, in order to create a safe and engaging learning environment for the student body.

Currently, students are only required to take a daily survey and have their temperature checked. While we are happy with the temperature checks, we find the daily health surveys to not be an accurate measure as they require complete honesty from students. If a student wants to go to class and has signs of infection, they're highly incentivized to lie on their healthy screening survey.

Hospitalizations are dramatically decreased when populations are vaccinated, according to the CDC. Even if a small percentage of students had religious exemptions, this would be the greatest way to avoid a possible shutdown in the future. 

By signing this petition, you agree that a return to fully online classes would be an absolute tragedy and the greatest way to prevent that is to having a vaccinated student body, as many other colleges are working towards.
