Hello Everyone,
This Development is the fastest moving, I have seen. It must be stopped immediately. We have followed the chain of command by petitioning our First District Alderwoman Bernetta Lanier, she has chosen to ignore this petition based on the Carver Village Neighborhood Association agreement that is a good project.
I also reached out to the 8th District County Commissioner, and Carver Village neighborhood president, Chester Ellis for consideration. After asking him the question if 100 homeowners asked you to re-evaluate the project would you, he said no, and notified me he was ending the call.
Immediately afterwards I started the petition. I knew he would not consent. I also knew out of tradition alderman listen to neighborhood organizations recommendations. However, I knew our only hope to stop the development in order to decide on a development that would enhance the community and not diminish it would be to petition the entire council.
I reached out to each Alderman and Alderwoman individually. So far, Alderwoman Linda Bryan responded and said she for the people. Then Alderman Palumbo he said he would do background on it, and suggested that I work on getting support from my alderman and the Mayor. Then Alderwoman Lanier responded with an email to Mr. Ellis asking if his position on this had changed. Lastly, Alderman Purtee responding tagging the city manager and Mayor for further follow up with me. As of tonight, no other council member has responded.
We will keep trying to get in the council agenda to discuss and hopefully get voted on. What everyone is sure of the Arena project will be altered, so why not in the meantime give Carver Village a project development that compliments it's Historic District designation? This Development has to be stopped quickly before construction begins. We need your help. Share this petition with as many networks as you have.
I will do my best to call the rest of the council who have not responded.
We want a better development for Historic Carver Village, it deserves it. Please keep sharing and thanks.
