Ceci Can't Manage an Apology

At the board meeting on Tuesday, several people showed up and spoke in support of our cause. Despite Ceci being told that her comments hurt people, she couldn't even manage to apologize! Instead, she called us "distractions". She also believes that this petition is full of contradictions, and she asked for a copy of it and the signatures so that she could see what people were saying and proposing. Later, in her non-apology, she said that she would provide the board copies of what the people on the petition were saying. She also has a post on her Facebook page where she said, "Currently there is an online petition being circulated to ban me from Valley High School because they claim I said offensive remarks against Valley during my speech at the Segerstrom High School ceremony." Talk about contradictions! It seems that she's already seen the petition. She also said that we misrepresented what she said at graduation. As acknowledged in a previous update, the original quote posted was not exact, but we included the video to show that the parts that weren't exact didn't change the meaning. Ceci also said it was disturbing and disappointing that teachers were leading this cause. She was also upset that teachers were "influencing students". Clearly she doesn't understand what it means to be a member of the education field. Teachers fight for and alongside their students rather than against them. Good teachers show their students appropriate ways to stand up for themselves and fight for what they believe in. Valley students are engaged in their community and exercise their rights. They do not tolerate being made to feel like second-class citizens. If Ceci is insinuating that students were coerced into signing this petition and speaking out against her, then she clearly knows even less about what it means to be a falcon than we thought she did. Maybe Ceci should be taking notes so that some day, SAUSD students will want to emulate her rather than ban her from their school.
