I can't thank every one enough for signing and sharing this petition. It continues to receive news coverage. I saw Valley News Live tonight and listened to Ed Schafer. The one thing he said that interested me was that there are over 100,000 alumni and ONLY (in other words the people who have signed do not matter) 3,600 have signed and that's a small percentage. May I remind Mr. Schafer that during the vote for the nickname ONLY 27,378 people voted out of the over 100,000 alumni, students, stakeholders, etc. A small percentage to choose our next iconic nickname. Also it took three rounds of voting for the Fighting Hawks to receive 50% of the 27,378 total votes! The reason so few voted was because we chose to not vote instead of voting for the lesser of five horrible choices. Actually the second point he made was about the logo he assumed we were looking at was reminiscent of the Sioux logo. Since when does a Hawk not have feathers?
