Don't let our family be split up for Christmas: Approve a visa for Kizito Wafula Okumu

The Issue

This year, my sister got married and had a baby. Our whole family was looking forwards to Christmas when we would meet and spend time with her husband and baby. Despite them being married, having a child together and giving proof of his work, his income, an invitational letter from my father and various other information that was asked for, his 13 day visa was refused because the Border Agency officer assigned to his case is 'not satisfied that a visit to the UK is commensurate with your social or economic circumstances. Therefore I am not satisfied that you are a genuine family visitor or that you intend to leave the UK at the end of your proposed visit….'

They are married. They have jobs in Kenya. They have a child together. All they want to do is see the family for Christmas. I'm not sure how else you can prove that you are a genuine family visitor.

Many of my family members are elderly or would otherwise be unable to travel to Kenya. If Kizito's visa is not approved, it is likely that they will never meet him.

I am petitioning Philip Hammond and Sarah Rapson to approve a visa for Kizito Wafula Okumu.

Thank you.
