Plan to phone into the Santa Cruz City Council meeting this coming Tues., Oct. 12. The agenda indicates the discussion on the proposed 831 Water St project cound start around 1:30 pm to approx 2 pm. Phone in via the directions on the city council website to request a scaled down version of tbe project which will not create a danger with the back up of cars and those using the sidewalk for walking or skateboarding. Bike riders will find it difficult to stop on the downhill as cars approach.
Vision Zero in Santa Cruz has written the city council due to their concern for the safety of this project’s location of the driveway. Vision Zero is made up of seasoned health and traffic professionals in Santa Cruz. Vision Zero was created because of the large number of fatalities due to traffic accidents in Santa Cruz. We need safe projects which do not cause safety problems in our city.
We all want affordable housing but not with poor designs which cause accidents.
Call in to the meeting and make sure the Santa Cruz City Council takes Vision Zero’s request seriously.
If you cannot call in write the city council today to tell them the importance to pay attention to the wisdom of Vision Zero.
Your time to call is important to protect lives in our community.
Thank you for caring.
