Do you want the homeless to sleep in front of your home on the Sidewalk in Santa Cruz?
· The Santa Cruz City Council will vote on Feb 23 5:30 pm on the new "Outdoor Living Ordinance" which states the homeless may not sleep overnight in the locations they currently reside in. This leaves the sidewalks in front of homes in Santa Cruz for their overnight stays.
· The City Council needs help contacting the state of California, the Federal Government, and private donors who give to philanthropic causes to assist with the expense of overnight shelter for the homeless in Santa Cruz.
WRITE THE SANTA CRUZ CITY COUNCIL AND ASK WHAT IN THIS ORDINANCE KEEPS THE HOMELESS FROM CAMPING FROM 8 PM TO 8 AM ON THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF A PERSON'S HOME IN THE CITY OF SANTA CRUZ. WE NEED ANSWERS NOW.
WRITE TO THE CITY COUNCIL TO ADVISE TO WORK ON THE FUNDING NEEDED AND DO NOT PASS THIS ORDINANCE.
· ACTION NEEDED: Write the city council a short email stating to WAIT to vote on the ordinance until more work is done to secure funds for overnight stays due to the risk of the homeless sleeping on the sidewalk in front of residence' homes.
