On Tuesday, April 10th, the Santa Cruz City Council will decide whether or not to oppose Senate Bill 827, now pending in the California State Legislature. SB 827 would drastically undermine local control over land use decisions. In Santa Cruz, it appears that 85' high buildings would be allowed on lots within one-quarter mile of most major transit lines. Mayor Terrazas and Council Members Sandy Brown and Richelle Noroyan are urging the Council to oppose the bill.
