Dear Neighbor,

I ask myself how we got into this situation:

• May, 2016: The City hired Nelson\Nygaard to recommend a strategic plan for parking Downtown. The consultant recommended alternatives to building a garage. Staff never brought the plan to the Council. (Read more) 
• 2022: The Downtown Parking District is running deep deficits with no indication of when a rebound to pre-pandemic levels might occur. Staff will not admit that this delays financing the garage (and the whole project) for years to come.

I believe part of the problem is a City Council that does not hold staff accountable. Along with passing Measure O, we need to elect independent thinkers to the Council. The three candidates for Council in the photo are the only candidates supporting Measure O.
