Today a majority of the City Council affirmed their willingness to approve the first quarter million of funding towards a massive garage & library/housing without considering Nelson\Nygaard's Downtown Parking Strategic Plan that supports alternatives to a new garage. It's still early in the process of stopping this project. (Remember that the community used a ballot measure to stop the desalination plant after $14 million in pre-construction funds were already spent.) The staff hope to bring this project to the Council for final approval in mid 2022. That gives us time to qualify a ballot measure.

But the quicker and less expensive path to stopping this project is to elect Council candidates who oppose the project: Sandy Brown, Kelsey Hill, Kayla Kumar and Alicia Kuhl.  Help us with an online donation to send the postcard letting voters know where the candidates stand on this project and other issues. Or send a check to CFST, PO Box 7927, Santa Cruz, 95061

Thanks!    -Rick Longinotti
