Change the "grooming" code at Sanger High School

The Issue

My name is Jill Buck.  I am the mother of Casper, a junior at Sanger High School.  My son has been attending school in Sanger since elementary school.  My son prefers to wear his hair long.  Year after year he has been having to cut his hair to conform to the "grooming" standards that the district has imposed.  He is unable to get around this rule as they have banned ponytails, and man buns for male students specifically.  I have been disheartened in the past when trying to speak to school administration about this.  On one incident I went to the school and encountered a male teacher with long hair on my way in.  When I questioned this, I was told that the rule does not apply to staff.  The dress code specifically says that these grooming standards are in place to project a positive image for the student, school, and District.  This should include staff as well.  I have also witnessed the rule being unfairly enforced.  When I would drop my son off I noticed many boys with hair that went against the "grooming" standard.  I decided to speak to someone about it since my son was being threatened with ISS.  The answer I got was those kids have been spoken too already.  Now we are back to school and on day one, about the third hour into the day my son was being threatened with ISS once again.  He is really excited about this school year.  He says he really likes his class schedule and his teachers.  He is excited to be with his friends again.  As of now Monday morning he will be in ISS unless we cut his hair.  I am anxious for him, because I know that this will be hard for him.  He might decide to cut it, but I wanted to help him fight this.
