Mobile, AL Mayor Sandy Stimpson has announced that the Mobile Civic Center will close in April of 2016. The Civic Center includes an Arena, Expo Hall and a Theater.

We wish to save the Mobile Civic Center Theater. The 1,940 seat Mobile Civic Center Theater is the primary performance space for the Mobile Opera and the Mobile Ballet. It is also the premier Mobile venue for Distinguished Young Women, traveling dance groups, local dance recitals, concerts, Broadway shows, and other theatrical events. The Theater features an orchestra pit, 90 by 60 foot stage, nice acoustics, unobstructed views, and large backstage facilities. The demolition of this theater for any building project that did not support a new arts center of this size and scope would be a huge loss to the arts community in Mobile, AL. We implore Mayor Stimpson to not demolish the Mobile Civic Center Theater and deal a crushing blow to the arts community of Mobile.
