PETITION Update: There are a few matters that have arisen recently. There have been positive moves forward on procedure and legalities and Walsall Council have produced some FAQs on these matters see link: http://cms.walsall.gov.uk/wmbc_v_travellers_faqs_2016__pdf_… I attended a Petition Committee meeting last week, alas after asking for others to show and give some support I was on my own. I was not given the full 5 minutes but have since put in our full presentation and have asked for Officers to respond. In the meantime Sandwell Council have launched a Public Consultation, again something we pushed for, although falling short of a public meeting, which I will pursue. Please do have your say on the following link: https://www.sandwell.gov.uk/illegalencampments As well as pushing for changes to protocols and procedure and looking for more community engagement/involvement I shall continue to look at physical deterrents and I am convinced that high containment kerbs are the way forward. These would not encroach on the open spaces and will also ease other issues around parking outside of schools. If you would like to see examples of trip fencing/bollards not working and indication of what high containment kerbs are please click on link https://www.facebook.com/Magga1964/media_set… Again and as always your support and help is very much appreciated.
