We have important news to share!

Rep. Stansbury Opposes Sandia Land Transfer

Yesterday, Sandias For All met with Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury, representatives from Senator Heinrich's office, and the Sheriff’s Departments from Bernalillo County and Sandoval County.

During this meeting, Congresswoman Stansbury clearly stated that she does NOT support transferring 10,000 acres of the Sandia Mountains out of the National Forest. She also affirmed her commitment to upholding the protections of the 2003 T'uf Shur Bien Preservation Trust Area Act.

This is a major step forward in our efforts to keep the Sandias public. Thank you for all of your support and the calls you have placed over the past months to our elected officials.

Now we need your help reinforcing that commitment.

PLEASE CONTACT Congresswoman Stansbury to thank her!
ABQ Office:  (505) 346-6781 or website contact form

Let her office know you appreciate her commitment to keeping public lands in public hands, protecting access for all to the Sandia Wilderness, and honoring the 2003 agreement.

We also thank Congresswoman Stansbury for offering to help address ongoing public safety concerns and Senator Heinrich for reaffirming his opposition to the transfer.

We look forward to working with the Pueblo, Forest Service, local governments, and law enforcement to address these issues, and will remain actively engaged in any proposed changes to the 2003 agreement.

Our voices are making a difference. Let's make sure Congresswoman Stansbury knows how much her commitment matters to protecting the Sandias.
