As a passionate advocate for equal opportunities in education and sports, I firmly believe that every student deserves the chance to explore their interests and talents. This is why I am calling for the sanctioning of high school lacrosse programs in Nebraska. Currently, many students are missing out on discovering their passion for lacrosse, a sport that could potentially open doors to college opportunities and teach youth life long skills needed to be productive in life. Every student should have the same opportunities.

Lacrosse is more than just a game; it encourages teamwork, fosters leadership skills, and promotes physical fitness, work ethic, problem-solving, and overall good health physically and mentally. Student lacrosse athletes can learn life long skills to help them be more productive in the workforce. Yet, despite its benefits and growing popularity nationwide with 26 sanctioned states in the USA, lacrosse remains underrepresented in our state's high schools.

There are over 800,000 participants at various age levels across the country but sadly Nebraska has yet to fully embrace this trend. Our students deserve better. They deserve the same opportunities as those in states where lacrosse is recognized as an official high school sport.

By sanctioning high school lacrosse programs in Nebraska we can level the playing field – giving our students access to new challenges, potential college opportunities, close the gap in economic disparities, and broadening their horizons both academically and athletically.

Sanctioning provides organizational structure and resources for high schools and athletes. Let's give all students an equal shot at finding what they love by sanctioning lacrosse in Nebraska.

The initial voting starts Fall of 2026. We want to show how many members of the community would support the sanctioning of this sport. Learn more at https://nebraskalacrosse.com/
