Dear Supporters, With 629 signatures at the moment we're well within our goal of 1000! Please attend the SLO County Board of Supervisors' meeting next Tuesday, November 7. It starts at 9am. If you would like to make a public comment you're allowed 3 minutes to speak. Please let us know if you would like help with talking points. Here's a great piece by the economist at this link for some new ways to think about the end of prohibition. http://discovery.economist.com/drugs/the-world-if-drugs-become-legal-2857881?kw=all&csid=socialpr&ref=drugs&aid=5168468479 If you speak at the Board of Sups meeting on Tuesday, it's particularly helpful to emphasize the medicinal uses of cannabis as well as the fact it has proven to be as safe and safer than any other recreational substance, e.g. coffee, alcohol, tobacco. The Board of Supervisors needs to understand that cannabis has been grown and consumed widely in California for decades, so nothing is changing with this end of prohibition and legalization except for the fact that tax revenues will be collected and criminal gangs will have to find other sources of income.
