I am so grateful to every one of you who signed our petition to name a street in San Jose after President Barack Obama. Our voice has started to gain traction; now we have an opportunity to move this from a promising idea to a hard-won reality! To do so, we're forming a local committee that will be meeting regularly to figure out the nuts and bolts of how to petition the city to change the name of one of its streets. We're beginning to put together tasks for getting this done and would love your support!
If you live near San Jose and want to get involved, feel free to attend our second committee meeting on Tuesday, October 24th, from 7-8 pm at the coffee shop Crema at 950 The Alameda, San Jose. You can email me at alexshoor@gmail if you have any questions and/or want to receive the calendar invite for the committee meeting.
One of the items we'll be figuring out in the weeks ahead is if we need to pay the fee to file the City of San Jose's form to change a street name. So whether you live near or far, we may be calling on you again soon to bring this effort to the next level by helping us raise money for the fee! Thanks again for all your support so far!
Yours in community change,
Alex
