As I was watching the news story on the most recent SDGE rate hike, I realized that they are only about profits. I noticed that the vice president of SDGE (San Diego gas & Electric) seemed like he didn’t care about the price increase. As a single father with two children, I have no idea where the extra money is going to come from and quite frankly, I feel like I’m being forced to pay for energy, while the energy company is price gouging. The reality is, with rent, mortgage, food and gas prices going up, the last thing families  need is an increase in electricity costs. 

When I was growing up, I remember my mom saying she couldn’t believe gas was $1.99 and she said well, this is the last time we are going to get gas for under $2.00 so go ahead and take a photo because once it goes up, it never really comes back down. And she’s right, I have never seen gas at $2.00 a gallon ever again. Now it’s $6-$7 a gallon. 

The same thing is happening with electricity. I encourage home owners to speak out against the rate hike by signing this petition to keep our energy costs low. 

Every penny raised on a kilowatt hour of energy, is more time & energy used by real people who have to clock in in order to make the money back. SDGE is not raising it a penny, they are rate hiking it by nearly 30% which means some people aren’t going to be able to pay it. 

As a home owner in the state of California, especially San Diego where electricity prices are already sky high, the last thing we need is another utility increase.
