Now the debate goes on and on in the animal rescue world about making animals available for free but it is my personal opinion that free cats and dogs made available through our animal shelters that are microchipped, vaccinated, spay or neutered is a step in the right direction. Folks, we can't have it both ways. We can't complain that they kill them if we can't support them doing everything they can to find a home for the animals that have been abandoned into their care. 

To those of you who feel that this encourages animal abuse, it is a very, very small percentage of people that are going to go adopt an animal that has been microchipped at an animal shelter, give their driver's license, home address, be filmed at the shelter adopting the dog or cat all for the sake of taking it home to abuse. So, for me and my household, we support Big Bear and Devore Animal Shelter with this very AMAZING opportunity for Southern California residents. 

I personally called the Devore Shelter today and THANKED THEM for making this amazing opportunity available for all of our abandoned cats and dogs. In our Big Bear shelter, we have 8 dogs and one cat that have been there over a month with ZERO interest. I pray to God that this special opportunity encourages someone to give them a new lease on life.

I also want to acknowledge the staff at the Big Bear Animal Shelter. Last week I went into the office and the 3 staff workers were all on the phones talking to animal rescues all across our state. After one of the staff hung up the phone, I said what is going on. The staff worker told me that they were blowing up the phones calling animals rescues to help get the animals out. I told the staff worker how happy that made me as an advocate of the shelter. They were very optimistic. I'm happy to see my tax dollars going to save lives instead of killing them. We need more of this.

P.S. I share this message today in honor of my rescue dog Eva-Marie who I adopted from the Devore Animal Shelter. She was such an amazing joy in my life. She was a cuddler. She was a schnauzer/poodle mix. She loved to give kisses and her eye lashes were so beautiful. She died during Covid and my heart will miss her forever and ever. I share this for you my sweet little girl. I pray someone meets there Eva-Marie at one of these two shelters because of this post. Till the morning #SweetPrincess
