I am writing to seek your assistance by WIDELY BROADCASTING to YOUR NETWORK a request that those in your network attend a San Bernardino Board of Supervisors meeting this Tuesday August 25th at 8:30 AM 385 North Arrowhead Ave 92415 San Bernardino, CA – Phone: 909 387 5417.
You too if possible!
The purpose of attending is threefold:
Exert strong political pressure to help save a German Shepherd Dog named Sheba – PLEASE READ HER STORY BELOW – AN INJUSTICE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED. We want her immediately released to a 501 3 c Rescue. There are multiple Rescues ready to take her and save her life and move her from San Bernardino County. Sheba will be needlessly killed on 9/11 without strong action as our other animals without our help.
Shine light on the conditions for animals at the Devore Shelter in San Bernardino and the neglect permitted by County officials. Help is needed for the many animals there. Sheba is one way we can bring attention to this Shelter and the need to fix matters at Devore.
Start a drive to change California law to require localities to strictly adhere to existing California state law that does not declare a dog “dangerous” until two instances of a physical altercation involving the dog occur – something that did NOT occur with Sheba.
Arbitrary discretionary action by local municipalities must cease.
WE NEED A LARGE TURNOUT AT THE MEETING!!!
Political pressure in the form of a large attendance by people and voters concerned about the treatment of animals is required to save Sheba and to expose conditions at and bring change to the Devore Shelter.
With a large showing at the Board of Supervisors meeting, the needed pressure can be exerted and hopefully save Sheba and initiate change at Devore. Dogs more “dangerous” than Sheba with apparent multiple and more serious bite histories have been released to rescues but, for unexplainable reasons except retribution for a lawsuit initiated to save her, Sheba is being singled out.
I suspect that Sheba may be being used as a political football given a lawsuit that has been filed by her owner against the County with animal control officials perhaps trying to use Sheba as a example of their false “toughness” and their juvenile way of responding vindictively to any challenge to their authority.
It is my understanding that Channel 4 News may be there covering the Meeting and Sheba’s
situation.
In this time of nationwide change, it’s time to put the rights of our animal friends FRONT AND CENTER and take action. Time for “Good Trouble.”
Please broadcast to your network and hopefully attend as well! If you can not attend, please call those San Bernardino officials listed below and convey your concern and position on this matter with Sheba politely and purposely. FOCUS ON GARY MCBRIDE, BOARD CEO. Feel free to email or call me with any questions.
Thanks!
