SHEBA UPDATE - DEVORE SHELTER
Jan 9, 2020 —
SHEBA UPDATE: I have been told that the January hearing has now been postponed until April! I am waiting for an update from KARES to confirm that.
Sheba is a senior (10) with a senior owner (80) - the owner did not “comply” with Devore’s requirements and Greg Beck at Devore has made it his mission to make Sheba pay the ultimate price with her life. The taxpayers are footing the bill for this fight which will allow the Devore Shelter in San Bernadino County to kill a senior dog because she supposedly attacked another smaller dog. The other dog lived and fully recovered and the owner was not home when Sheba managed to get loose. If I was a taxpayer in that county I would be outraged.
Sheba has been with the same owner for her entire life. Taxpayers are paying to remove this dog from an 80 years old man because of an “almost”? Does anyone else have a problem with this?
FYI: Devore is cold; it’s winter time and Sheba is sleeping on a concrete floor in a concrete cell. No toys, no walks, no bed or blankets; no visitors, no contact with humans other than indifferent shelter workers. Shame on Greg Beck; shame on the system for allowing this to happen; shame on the team of people who decided to make an old man “pay” for his “disobedience” by killing his dog.
Is the plan to delay, delay, delay until they go to feed her and find her dead in her kennel? Delay until she gets sick; delay until she just dies of a broken heart. There is much in rescue that absolutely disgusts me and this is right up there. Shit or get off the pot! Enough!

**SHEBA ID #A573805 has been on a legal hold back in the quarantine area since June 17, 2019. The next hearing is scheduled for 4/6/2020, and her fate will be decided at that time. She is not listed on Petharbor, but she is at Devore Shelter (San Bernardino, CA)**
SHEBA - ID#A720422 (scheduled to be euthanized - Devore does not intend to make her available). Sheba reportedly attacked a small dog and was labeled a vicious dog (the injured dog did have to see a vet, but it is not clear whether or not the injured dog needed to spend the night at the vet). Earlier this year, due to a compromised fence, she got out and was running at large. An administrative review panel ordered Sheba killed.
The owner is absolutely heartbroken, and he desperately wants to save Sheba's life:
It is going to be an uphill battle trying to save this dog, but we have to try.
Please contact the following individuals ot try and save this beautiful girl's life. We are her only hope, and time is extremely short: BCronin@dph.sbcounty.gov
I am a female, black and tan Shepherd mix.
The shelter staff think I am about 10 years old.
I have been at the shelter since June 17, 2019.
