¿Sabías que en la Playa Babilonia de Guardamar del Segura (Alicante) existe un conjunto de viviendas únicas en el Mediterráneo, construidas entre los años 30 y 50, que están hoy en riesgo de demolición?

Estas casas no son solo estructuras frente al mar: son memoria viva del litoral mediterráneo, ejemplos genuinos de arquitectura popular costera, y testigos silenciosos de la evolución histórica del veraneo, la vida marinera y el desarrollo urbano tradicional de la Comunidad Valenciana y España.

Did you know that in Playa Babilonia in Guardamar del Segura (Alicante) there is a group of unique houses in the Mediterranean, built between the 30s and 50s, which are now at risk of demolition?

These houses are not just structures facing the sea: they are a living memory of the Mediterranean coastline, genuine examples of popular coastal architecture, and silent witnesses to the historical evolution of summer holidays, seafaring life and traditional urban development in the Valencian Community and Spain.

Las viviendas de Playa Babilonia han acogido generaciones de familias, veraneantes y visitantes que forjaron una comunidad única. Su valor no es solo material, sino etnológico, sentimental e histórico.

The homes of Playa Babilonia have been home to generations of families, holidaymakers and visitors who have forged a unique community. Their value is not only material, but ethnological, sentimental and historical.

Lamentablemente, hoy están bajo amenaza de derribo por diferentes motivos. Este proceso supone una pérdida irreparable del patrimonio cultural, un veraneo que ya no se construye en ningún lugar del mundo protejámoslo, es historia.

Unfortunately, today they are under threat of demolition for various reasons. This process represents an irreparable loss of cultural heritage, a summer resort that is no longer built anywhere in the world, let's protect it, it is history.

Por eso pedimos: We therefore call for

1. La paralización inmediata de los derribos el próximo 15 de septiembre.     Immediate halt to demolition on 15 September
2. La incoación de un expediente de Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) para proteger estas casas.      The opening of an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) file to protect these houses.
3. El reconocimiento oficial de su valor arquitectónico, histórico y comunitario.            Official recognition of its architectural, historical and community value.
