Monkeys that were meant to be in a sanctuary were sold to scientists to become breeders. The University of Washington is funding the project and leasing the facility from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The monkeys are kept in the desert in a caged facility with the babies that are born being sent to the Center of Disease Control. They are being used to experiment on with infectious diseases. They should be living in a habitat where they can play and their babies not taken from them for horrific science experiments. I am asking that accommodations be made for the monkeys to be returned to a sanctuary environment and that all breeding programs for scientific experiments be stopped on the reservation.
