Please see the below update from Stephen Lloyd MP regarding his Early Day Motion seeking support for a Royal Commission on Policing. You will see from his message that he has the support of 47 MPs for this. We really need to get towards 100. Therefore please write to your MP after the 8th January 2019 when Parliament reconvenes after the Christmas/New Year recess seeking their support. My grateful thanks to you for all of your support to date!!
Hi Kevin
We're coming to the end of a rather interesting Parliamentary session, but I just wanted to let you know that i continue plugging away at the Royal Commission campaign. For an update: I asked a question in the Chamber yesterday (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkA7GneO7ec&feature=youtu.be and got a negative response from the Leader of the House, but don't let that put you off, as I plan to ramp it up in the new year.
Just because the government is currently investing the vast bulk of its time and thinking on Brexit, I won't let it get away with ignoring your excellent idea of implementing a new police royal commission. We'll be meeting with the representatives from the Police Federation in January and I'm confident they'll come on board. It will be helpful if you could ping out an email to change.org again asking that all of the signers of your petition contact their MP asking they sign the EDM. We're up to 47 signatories now, but we really do want to start heading toward the 100 figure. Just to remind you the EDM is https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/52128 and if the petition signers want to check who their MP is they need to click here https://www.writetothem.com/
Parliament is now in recess until early January but if you could ask the petition signatories to make a note in their diary to lobby their MPs on the 8th January, we can hopefully get the ball rolling for 2019.
Regards,
Stephen
