Indonesia is comprised of over 17,000 islands and is located in a transitional zone between some of the world's largest flora and fauna habitat regions. The islands are home to endemic plant species which include over 40,000 species of flowering plants, 5,000 orchids species, and the monster flower (Rafflesia Arnoldi), which is the biggest flower in the world. All these species combined, makeup 11% of the world's plant species. The native plants of Indonesia also have some beneficial properties to help us in some situations like medical, production, clothing, flavour. With this much importance, you might think that the Indonesian people, but sadly in this era where Indonesian usually remember and recognize outside plants effect the knowledge of Indonesian plants forgotten sure maybe you learned some iconic plants like the Rafflesia Arnoldi, but it usually only go that far, modern Indonesian does not know about most of the Indonesian plants and its usefulness heck some Indonesian doesn't even know said plants to be originated in Indonesia. This important knowledge is only been taught and remembered by people who live in the rural area of Indonesia. We are starting this petition in hopes to bring awareness to this issue and hopefully start a better understanding of local Indonesian plants.

Local plants in Indonesia are very many and have a lot of type , as you know Indonesia have many island and many different places, each place have their own culture and their plants is also different from all other places/island in Indonesia so if Indonesian people go out of their city to go to other places in Indonesia, if they see a plant they didn't know what plant is it, they have to ask to the people who stay in that place , because different place have different type and names of the plant even though is local plant and different plants have different benefit to.

Impacts of losing our local Indonesia fruits are destructions of Indonesia's traditions, culture, health, and identity. Knowing that citizens of Indonesia don't recognize our local fruits and their benefits, cause a majority of people in shame. The lack of knowledge of our local fruits can result the citizens to destroy or stop the growing of those fruits, since citizens only recognize the common fruits and their benefits, mass production of them can happen causing next generations to only know and study them. If local fruits are mass produced, farmers will suffer, since people only buy the fruits that they know is sure to be beneficial and good for their health. If these local fruits are only recognized by people in rural areas, the market, could affect the sellers go bankrupt and not earn any profit. Also, the health of Indonesian people will fall to sickness because of the lack of understanding the benefits of the fruits can cause their diet to only eat unbalanced/unhealthy meals.

If the majority of people still continue not knowing our local fruits and their benefits, the fruits will go extinct. And if the local fruits are replaced by common and imported fruits, Indonesian's identity will no longer be studied by foreigners, since the fruits that can only be found in Indonesia are no longer known/produced.

So, what can we do to get people to recognize our local fruits? Well, we have some suggestions that we would like to share with you. Our first suggestion is everyone should add those local fruits in their diet or daily consumption of those local fruits that we have. By doing this, they can know the benefits of those fruits and utilize them for health benefits. Durian may help regulate blood pressure, mangosteen may promote weight loss, srikaya may help controlling your blood pressure and others.

Another suggestion that we have is, let teachers teach students more about these local fruits. By doing this student will have more knowledge about this fruit. They can know the benefits and how to utilize those fruits.

To conclude all, we need to give people knowledge about the local plant. Some people lack the knowledge and they did not fully understand the benefits, so the local plants cannot grow at their fullest potential. That is why we are making this petition. We are making this so people can be aware of the local plants’ benefit. We can help farmers and gardeners to grow local plants better. Many foreigners wanted to take the advantage of the local plants. We need to prevent that from happening. That is why we need your help to sign this petition.

We are encouraging you to help protecting the local plants. By signing this petition, you cooperated and helped Indonesian to recognize the importance and the benefits of our local plants.
