Safety Crossing - Wurley Drive
Safety Crossing - Wurley Drive
The issue
Dear Local Residents,
We hope this message finds you well.
As members of this vibrant and growing community, we are reaching out to ask for your support in a matter that affects the safety and wellbeing of all who live, work, and visit our neighbourhood—especially our children and families.
With the exciting developments at Bokarina Beach, including new shops, restaurants, and public amenities, foot traffic in the area is increasing significantly. Wurley Drive, a key thoroughfare connecting our residential streets to these destinations, has seen a surge in both pedestrian and vehicle activity. Children riding bikes to Kawana Waters State College and families accessing the beach and local parks are now navigating a road that lacks adequate safety infrastructure.
We are petitioning the Sunshine Coast Council to install a raised safety crossing on Wurley Drive. This measure will help protect pedestrians, calm traffic, and ensure our community remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
Your voice matters. By signing this petition, you are helping to advocate for a safer environment for our children, neighbours, and visitors. We’ve included correspondence with the Council and supporting documentation to strengthen our case.
Please join us in making Bokarina Beach safer—one step at a time.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Layfield
On behalf of concerned residents of Wurtulla & Bokarina Beach
