Yesterday I followed up with my local federal MP regarding updated Australian data on treatment-resistant PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in veterans.

Since we last met in 2025, new Australian evidence has materially changed the understanding of how many veterans are living with persistent, treatment-resistant conditions. Evidence-based analysis now indicates that up to ~150,000 veterans may be affected, with flow-on impacts for many hundreds of thousands of family members.

This is not about politics or pushing a particular treatment. It’s about ensuring veteran health policy and advice reflect current evidence — especially when authoritative reviews have already warned about the risks associated with long-term psychiatric polypharmacy in treatment-resistant conditions.

I’ll continue engaging constructively and respectfully, one step at a time, because veterans and their families deserve systems that evolve when the facts change.
