Thank you for signing our petition for safer pedestrian crossings on Mitchell Road. Council has listened and is now reworking its designs.
But a new and bigger safety threat has emerged – a proposed new road off Mitchell Road that would funnel through-traffic into Erskineville and Newtown’s residential streets, creating 24-hour rat runs past homes and along school routes.
Please take a moment to sign a letter to the Lord Mayor here:

Our new campaign is called:
Stop the MacDonald Street rat run – Let’s have an Ashmore Village Square instead
Instead of a new road that invites through-traffic, we’re calling for this public land to be used for a community-friendly public plaza that supports local businesses and gives people a safe place to walk, shop, meet and play.
Every letter sent shows Council that residents across Erskineville and Newtown want safe and quiet streets – not more through-traffic.
Thank you for your support,
Chris
