Safeguard democracy in India: stop corruption in education
The Issue
When I was in class 10th, I observed a troubling scenario during my board exams. Several students were not playing fair. They were receiving illicit help from teachers who, in exchange for money, provided assistance in solving exams or outright offered the answers themselves. This is not just an issue of academic dishonesty, but a symptom of a larger problem that our democracy is fast approaching a dead-end.
Our nation is standing at the crossroads. The sanctity of our democracy, which was founded on the principles of justice, equality, and integrity, is being undermined. This is not an isolated incident; it reflects a broader systemic issue where elements of corruption have infiltrated various layers of our society, including politics and education.
India, as the world's largest democracy, cannot afford to let corruption choke its future. We desperately need to summon the strength to fight these unlawful practices that are slowly strangling the pillars of our democracy. It is vital for every Indian citizen to step up and protect the democratic principles that our country is proudly built upon.
Education is supposed to be the backbone of our society, preparing responsible citizens for tomorrow. If the very foundation—our education system—is compromised, what hope do we have for a corruption-free nation? We must urgently address this at both the grassroots and policy levels.
Our government must prioritize creating a corruption-free environment in educational institutions and vigorously investigate reported instances of misconduct. Implementing stricter regulations, transparency in grading, and encouraging a whistleblower system can help restore fairness in exams.
