Inner West Council is expecting to receive $500m in the coming years from developers as new homes are built. They’re asking how to spend that money, so make sure your ideas are heard! This closes at the end of February, click here to take this opportunity now!
There are 2 key ways to share your thoughts, the survey to prioritise spending, and the map to suggest specific projects. Check out the explainer by our friends at Marrickville Town Square, or their video on insta that lays it all out.
Stuck for ideas on what pins to drop on the map? Here are some of the big items on Council’s own strategies that we hope they’ll fund first:
- Marrickville Road Cycleway, from Meeks Rd to Sydenham Station
- Addison Road Cycleway, from Enmore Park to the Livingstone Rd Cycleway
- Marrickville Town Square, at the corner of Calvert Street & Illawarra Road)
- Iron Cove Creek Masterplan (another greenway to Ashfield!)
- Hercules and other streets in Dulwich Hill
- Sydenham Road Cycleway
- Illawarra Rd pocket parks, e.g. outside the Henson Park Hotel
- Lilyfield Rd Cycleway, from the Bay Run to the Rozelle Parklands
- Sydney Steel Rd and Edinburgh Rd traffic calming
- Pocket parks as modal filters on Loftus, Alt, and Bland Streets in Ashfield.
- Victoria Rd cycleway
- A connection between King Street, Newtown, to RPA and the Rozelle Parklands
Ride with us to Reopen the Glebe Island Bridge: 9am, Saturday 21 February 2026
We’re one of many bike groups joining forces to show the community support for the restoration and reopening of the Glebe Island Bridge. Check out the details and RSVP on either Meetup or Facebook.
One last thing: support the Friends of Erskineville’s campaign to keep their streets calm!
Happy riding and happy writing!
Warm regards,
