The Inner West's councillors have supported our petition for better bike infrastructure. However, council staff didn't promise faster delivery of cycleways in their response to the petition. To create real change, we need to get the message across to council staff too!

One good way to do this is by providing them with feedback on current projects to improve our streets. Here are three opportunities you can take today:

  1. Tempe and Sydenham precinct, comments due by this Sunday 2nd March.

  2. Ashfield North & Croydon precinct, comments due by Sunday 9th March.

  3. Princes Highway in Tempe and Sydenham, comments due by Monday 31st March.

Register on the Your Say Inner West website to be notified when similar plans are open for comments.

If you need ideas on what to propose in these areas, consider supporting:

  1. A cycleway along Unwins Bridge Road in Tempe, and traffic calming measures that stop rat running across Yelverton, Frederick and Sutherland streets.
  2. Ashfield North would benefit from a separated cycleway on Elizabeth Street to make it a safe place to ride, and a series of modal filters on Bland, Alt or Frederick Streets.
  3. The Princes Highway could have shared paths on both sides to connect Ikea, the Tempe sports facilities, Sydenham Metro station, the Cooks River and Wolli Creek.

Thank you for supporting the creation of better streets in the Inner West. Riding and walking can help address many of the urban challenges we face, all we need are better streets!
