Last Tuesday, 25 riders from throughout the Inner West pedalled from Newtown to the council meeting in Ashfield. To demonstrate the community support for better cycling infrastructure, we had three volunteers deliver speeches to the Councillors, which were well received.
Unfortunately, the council meeting was cut short by a fire alarm. So our petition will be addressed by council at an Extraordinary meeting on 4th June. We will once again be riding there together, this time hosted by Bike Leichhardt. RSVP on Facebook or Meetup, and help us maintain the pressure!
As always, please continue sharing the petition with your loved ones, and consider reaching out to your ward councillors, to encourage them to take real action and make cycling a viable alternative to driving in the Inner West.
