People power is working.

This petition was submitted to The Hon. Melissa Horne MP yesterday morning. When I handed it over, I shared community feedback — including concerns that the zebra crossing near First Avenue feels unsafe — and said we hoped the new crossing planned for South Kingsville would be upgraded to a safer design.

And yay!! 🎉
This morning, Melissa posted an update confirming the crossing will now be a raised wombat crossing with flashing lights. This is a massive improvement. While it’s still not the very best design possible, a raised crossing will make a real difference for people trying to cross Blackshaws Road.
