The issue

Every school day, hundreds of kids from Currimundi State School and Currimundi Special School walk and ride to school through two danger zones:

Buderim Street: peak traffic, with no crossing, no flashing lights and no safe bike route.
The public car park at the school entry: two lanes of cars going in and out, right where kids walk to the gate.
Cars don’t slow down and drivers don’t give way. Kids dart between vehicles. Multiple near-misses happen every day.

We’ve asked Council for years. The answer is always “too expensive, too complicated.” Yet there’s funding to upgrade the park path to make it compliant.

If there’s money for the park, there’s money for our kids.

We call on Sunshine Coast Council to:
Install a supervised crossing on Buderim Street
Make the car park crossing at the school entry safe
Fund it now, not “one day”
Sign now. Don’t wait for a tragedy.  The P&C have been working on this for a long time so your support will encourage council to take it seriously.

Seen a near-miss? Report it. Every report counts.  Email the local council tim.burns@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au
