Salim Mehajer should look at quitting, according to his own council ‪#‎SackSalimMehajer‬ ‪#‎SackLeLam‬ ‪#‎SacktheMayor‬ ‪#‎SacktheDeputyMayor‬ ‪#‎SayNOtoCorruption‬ ‪#‎NoMoreExcuses‬ Mike Baird & Paul Toole MP (Local Govt Minister), Luke Foley (Auburn MP) must ‪#‎TakeAction‬ NOW! Councillor George Campbell put forward a motion at last night's Council Meeting told the chamber that the council needed to separate itself from conduct of Cr Mehajer, who found himself before a court "fairly frequently". "We are making a stand that we do not approve of his behaviour," Cr Campbell said. "This resolution is aimed at rescuing the reputation of this council." The 6-2 vote was the first time the council has officially censured the first-term independent councillor, who rose to national prominence after his extravagant wedding stopped traffic in Lidcombe in August. Auburn mayor Le Lam, whose brother-in-law and real estate business partner is also in business with Cr Mehajer, voted against the resolution calling on him to stand down. Cr Lam then shut down the debate on a series of related motions, including that council cease considering any planning matters involving councillors until a state government investigation into Cr Mehajer had concluded. http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/auburn-council-calls-on-controversial-deputy-mayor-salim-mehajer-to-consider-resigning-20151118-gl2b91.html
