South Australian Disability Legislation that Ensures Rights Are Met!

South Australian Disability Legislation that Ensures Rights Are Met!
The issue
To the South Australian Premier Hon. Peter Malinauskas.
We seek a Government supported Council of people with disabilities and close lived experience to process the findings of the "SA Disability Inclusion Act 2018 Review" and to write an updated SA Disability Act 2022 that gives us the clout to prevent ongoing abuses, discrimination and indignity!
The South Australian State Disability Inclusion Act 2018 has fallen grossly short of meeting the rights, inclusion and safety needs of people with disabilities and their families. Government commissioned reports, the Disability Royal Commission, the back-log of complaints sitting with Federal Human Rights systems have proven this over and over again!
The current SA Disability Inclusion Act 2018 is a toothless tiger that directs human rights breaches to the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Equal Opportunity Commission - both are inundated with PREVENTABLE COMPLAINTS.
The state needs to STEP-UP. It's time to stop the flimsy surveys and instead - handover the development of an upgraded SA Disability Act (with preventative legislation and policy) to the expertise that exists within the disability community.
We seek a Government supported Council of people with disabilities and close lived experience to process the findings of the 2018 Act review and to write an updated SA Disability Act 2022 to give us the clout to prevent the abuses/discrimination and indignity!
