Hello,

This is Maria, the mom who started this petition - S.T.O.P. - Stop The Operator from Passing. Some of you know me but many of you don't, so I thought I would introduce myself and also send a big THANK YOU to everyone for your support.

In a week and a half's time, we got 288 supporters. That's not too shabby!

I was told from Rep. Paul Donato, who is in support of the "School Bus Stop Camera" law and this initiative that I need 15,000 signatures before any of the lawmakers take notice. We can do better than that!

I am working on this initiative every day and I wanted to tell you about a few cool things that happened this week:

  • The Salem News said I could submit an Opinion piece.

  • The editor in chief from the website, "School Transportation News" wants to write an article.

  • The Senior Center in Everett gave me permission to set up a table to get signatures. I hope to set up more table events like this. (if you know of a place, let me know.)

  • I made 500 car decals that say, "When The Lights are Flashin', Don't Be Passin'." (I'll try to make more but I'm spending my own money right now)
*note: If Change. org asks for a donation, that does not go to me. It goes to Change.org so they can do what they do. (some people have asked)

  • I'm working on some ideas to get traditional and social media attention.

I will be making a paper petition form if anyone is interested in helping to get more signatures, or if you have questions, ideas or want to help in any other way, you can email me at stopschoolbuspassing@gmail.com.

Every signature, share & comment help to motivate me to keep posting, calling, thinking and preaching until Massachusetts lawmakers come up with a solution to this very serious problem.

Thank you!
~Maria

Ps: I made a promise to my son to do whatever I can to S.T.O.P drivers from passing the school bus. Who can you make that promise to?
