Official confirmation that the planning application has been withdrawn has appeared on the States of Guernsey website and has been widely covered in the local media ! Very many thanks to all those who have spoken out and campaigned against those plans, to the 1370 people who have signed this petition and to the media for their extensive coverage. We applaud the decision of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture to withdraw the application though wish to point out that no planning application can be submitted by third parties for States-owned property without actual permission from the States themselves. Now, the next step is to get both the Island War Memorial and St Paul's Garden protected status ! Well done everyone and, once again, very many thanks !
