A Connecticut-based utility company, Avangrid Renewables, has plans for a multi-year, heavy construction project at Barnstable’s beloved Dowses Beach. They propose a 3-year long construction project proposes to install three electrical export cables — for a total of 1200 Megawatts — from a future offshore wind farm. We believe this is a reckless endangerment of the environment, a wildlife habitat, and the health and safety of those who use this beautiful Nantucket Sound area on a year-round basis. Greater Dowses Beach is a fragile coastal zone estuary and barrier spit that simply cannot withstand this industrial assault.
