Hello Fine Campaigners
As we approach a critical juncture in this year-long campaign, I have a few quick up-dates...
- Rockwell Property responded swiftly today to an interview in The Chelsea Citizen yesterday with a disgruntled Battersea resident - Mr Pedro Silva - who told how he was "tricked" into supporting its 28-storey (plus ground floor) tower.
A Rockwell spokesperson agreed to withdraw the letter of support that the company had submitted under his name, as well as to delete all data relating to him. The spokesperson disputed Mr Silva's account of his brief doorstep meeting with a canvasser working for Rockwell. The Citizen's story has been up-dated to reflect their counter claims - and their assertion that "1,800" people have (knowingly?) lodged support.
- Many news outlets have been covering the story about the controversial tower as decision day looms. Below are links to the main articles.
- This petition was finally submitted to the committee and its chairman Cllr Tony Belton today. It contained 4,996 signatures. Understandably, it is too late for the council to add those to the Comments section, but the committee will be made fully aware of it. I have also brought Cllr Belton's attention to the scale of postcodes from the signatories that are hyper-local to Battersea Bridge.
- Wandsworth Council's Planning Applications Committee will meet at 7.30pm at the town hall tomorrow. Many campaigners are planning to meet at the fountain in the forecourt from 6.30pm.
Unless you are in Rome in a certain queue, I expect to see all 4,996 of you there.
Onwards.
Regards
RMc
